Sunday Evening Storms

Josie becomes very anxious during thunder storms. She paced the house for a long time, before finally allowing us to pick her up and settle on our bed. It was very hot today and the thunder rolled all evening, but very little rain.
Of course, Josie had to check every now and then to make sure that cat stayed on the floor. Poor Felix? No phobias, but in the chair downstairs with Charlotte watching TV!

Horrible Bosses - a little comedy noir.

My s-i-l said this movie was quite funny. I have to agree as I laughed a lot throughout the movie. We decided to take in a grown up movie after taking Maddie home and this was the husband's choice. I am a little ashamed that I found it funny as it is filthy, but it was not as bad as Bad Santa.

We saw Bridesmaids a few weeks ago. While it had positive reviews, I found it only mildly funny at times, with too much time in between laughs. Sort of like most SNL shows of the last few years. Horrible Bosses was a much better movie with less lag time between laughs.

Charlotte saw Zoo Keeper in the next theatre. She said it was very funny and "we should see it." I don't think so unless it comes on HBO on a rainy winter weekend.

Savoring Sunday

The boat was out and ready for a fishing trip, but we overslept and it seemed too hot to make the afternoon low tide. So, the boat went back to the boat yard, and we went to the pool.
Madison was able to get her second wind and asked so nicely that we went by the park, but she only lasted about 20 minutes.

Meeting Billie Jean King

A fledgling young tennis competitor met my tennis idol, Billie Jean King, at the World Team Tennis Finals.

Sweltering Saturday

We had a nice visit this morning at Marion Square. Even then, it was hot and sweltering in the shade.
Charlotte, Maddie, Jack and I spent the afternoon at the pool. It was not very refreshing in the heat so the girls and I went home for a nap when Jack had to leave.

Camp Week Finale

Maddie attended her first Bible School, aka Church Camp @ the Cathedral this week. She had us all week, but the evening storms kept us from the pool until Friday evening and Saturday.
Maddie was so tired after a full day at the pool that she went to sleep swinging late this afternoon!

Meet Felix the dog.

Felix, a seven year old Jack Russell Terrier needed a new home. We decided to try out the pairing for a few days. This was the first meeting between Josie and Felix this past Sunday.
Felix finally ventured into the back yard.
Soon, they were marking territory, repeatedly going to the water bowl for refills!
It seems to be working out. Felix is a good dog and just seems to have needed a fenced in yard to roam. Josie, on the other hand, may not be very good at sharing.

Keith Urban @ Colonial Life Arena-Part 2-June 23,2011

Memories of the best Thursday ever.

Alone in Paradise

Everyone was back to work on July 5th except ...me! Yeah, I had two lovely days exploring the island by bike, sitting on the beach, sleeping in each of the villa's bedrooms and reading my nook from each of the kitchen island chairs.
My corner unit living room:

Lots of wildlife. Most were too fast for me to stop and take a picture. Some were a little more used to humans.

There were many alligators, but no need to sun on the banks of the ponds with 90 degree plus temps and 100% humidity. So the gator sightings were restricted to the tops of heads in the water, baby gators in the Night Heron Park Nature Center, and this fellow (who looks a little ill - his color is so grey).

The temperatures and humidity made this old lady ride only in the mornings and in the evenings. Still, I rode as much as possible, going through several t-shirts. I even climbed the marsh tower to take pictures.
Landside view:
Tower view:

It was great while it lasted, but back to reality- you know the reality where I have to go to work, live in a little house a half mile from the water, and the closest I've ever been is 8 rows (and a line of security guards) from Keith Urban.

It's Independence Day!

We were able to spend the holiday on Kiawah Island. Charlotte wanted to stay home and Carrie and her latest bf were only out for the day. We did enjoy time with David's family.
My youngest niece - the young tennis star, Carrie and Airman Jacobs.
My 13 year old nephew: too cool to let the world know he just had a cheeto!

We watched fireworks from the beach. My batteries died so I didn't get any shots of the Night Heron Park or Sanctuary fireworks.

Another Redfish Day

The Princess of Menhaden (also finger mullet and shrimp) caught enough bait this afternoon for a few redfish from the Palmetto Island County Park Fishing Dock.
