Sweet September Sunday

Week 2 of First Communion Preparation. The adults in the family (and Spencer) heard a lecture on Science and the Church before mass,

Maddie is swimming all over the place this summer.

It was so good to have my babies back home.

Poppy showed Maddie how to cannonball.

Maddie is very sweet with Spencer.

Maddie, after all of these years, still fits in a baby swing and still has the same "tired" expressions.

Mandolin Orange, "There Was A Time"

I had the privilege of seeing Mandolin Orange last night @ Charleston Music Hall. This was my third show this year and the first one ever with the full band. It was great to buy their latest CD shortly after its debut.
I have been listening to Keith Urban's Fuse this week and have now added This Side of Jerusalem into the rotation.

Busy September weekend

Sunday was a busy day as it was Maddie's first day of first communion preparation. She really enjoyed the class and showed off her improving reading skills by reading the first chapter of the Faith and Life series @ bedtime.

Maddie earned her choice of a trip to Music in Motion for a good week in school. Cousin Katie also went to prepare for a skate night @ school.

Madison started the weekend with the adoption of a new cat. Maddie checked out all of the kittens, but decided on a 4 year old male now named Mr. Cheddar. Mr. Cheddar is, not surprisingly, similar to Maddie's recently deceased Simba and Aunt Charlotte's Vincent Van Cat (Vince).

Labor Day Monday

My brothers, Jimmy and David, and most of their families joined us on Sullivan's Island today until the storms started moving in during the afternoon.

Spencer was held in the edge of the water a few times by the relatives.
Maddie enjoys playing with my youngest niece, Katie.

Katie's brother, Zach, is still a sport at family gatherings.

The beach tent was the place to be when the rain began to come down.

Melvin's was a good place to escape the storms. Maddie entertained us with her bubble gum.
Spencer enjoyed the green stuff, but seemed confused by the smell of bar-b-que.

First Sunday in September!

Maddie has made good progress with swimming this summer. Maddie
can swim the width of our junior olympic pool and only needs to come up for air once. She has to come up a few more times when she swims the length of the pool. We have to teach her different strokes next summer.
