Friday afternoon @ the IOP and Town Centre

Maddie was still full of energy so we went to the County Park in the afternoon.

The "don't get wet" admonition went unheeded.
So a change of clothing was necessary before meeting Kristy and Jack @ Town Centre.
They rode the Christmas train. We all went into Victoria's Secret so Kristy could make an exchange. Jack held his mom's hand as they stood in line. Maddie and I walked around the store for a minute, but her hands touched everything. We walked by Kristy on our way out the door and Maddie stopped to say something to her mother."Mom, I know Victoria's secret ... her panties are too small."

Santa seemed to rcognize Maddie and had some words for her about listening to her parents, doing what she is told without being told twice (or 14 times) and to do her best to be a good girl everyday at home and at school. Kristy asked Maddie what Santa said (as though we hadn't heard) as we walked towrds the cars. Maddie replied, "He said don't worry about dropping your clothes on the floor or your trash and for
J- A-C-K to be nicer to me."

Black Friday? No, sunny and warm on Sullivan's Island.

Slowing down enough to close those eyes while swinging.
Maddie did sleep in this morning - until almost 7am, but was wide open from that moment on.We did a little energy expending @ the park on Sullivan's Island in the late morning along with a hotdog picnic from Johnny's.

Monday in Beaufort!

A painting? No, a cell phone picture.

Really high tides have left a good bit of dead marsh grass floating around.

It was a work day, but great to see the sunshine this afternoon. I never tire of this view from the Beaufort office, best SCYAP office view in the state.

Happy Birthday Wesley!

Our son-in-law, Wes, celebrated his 24th birthday with steak, salad, mashed potatoes, pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream. No, the bride didn't prepare dinner so all went well at the family gathering.

Saturday evening @ James Island County Park

A few pictures of light displays @ the annual Holiday Lights display.
Gene's company had its annual holiday party @ the Edisto building. A good dinner catered by Hambys, good music by the Larry David Project, and a slow drive around the lights when it was not crowded. I can't post any actual Christmas displays before Thanksgiving - a personal policy to celebrate one holiday at a time.

Lincoln Trailer

A most interesting movie. Daniel Day Lewis, from the Last of the Mohicans, to the Gangs of New York, to Lincoln, is a male version of Meryl Streep. This movie worked hard to be authentic, the valved brass instruments were rotary valved instead of piston valved. It works on so many levels, but there was a little manipulation of history in this four month portrayal of Lincoln. The only thing that just didn't work for me was the casting of Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. Yet, a very worthwhile movie.

Saturday @ LOR

Maddie went to work with Mimi today. LOR (Lowcountry Orphan Relief) hosted a multi agency day of fun for foster youth and families in Charleston. This very helpful organization is located on the old Navy Base.

Maddie was very well behaved and listened to Mimi and the other ladies from Mimi's office.
Maddie remembered that we were near the river and wanted to go to the waterfront after the party.

Saturday @ Charles Towne Landing

Jack was asleep by the time he got to our house last night, but woke up this morning to spend time playing with birthday presents.

We asked Jack what he got for his birthday and he did not talk about his presents from his parents or Aunt Carrie and Uncle Wes. He would only say " I did not get a 4 wheeler." A stop by Walmart remedied that concern, but remote control action is a bit of a fine motor skill for a newly 4 year old.
Jack on the boardwalk.

Jack was a little apprehensive about going below deck on the Adventure.
The otters in the Animal Forest.

Jack ate half of Mimi's brisket @ Home Team BBQ before going home. He wasn't thrilled with the banana pudding. Oh well, more for Mimi and Poppa.
