Trick or Treat!

I left for work about noon after overcoming a bug long enough to go to work for a while. Charlotte graced me with her presence and began to carve after meticulously taping the pumpkin. Gene had cleaned the pumpkin in advance, but Charlotte is the pumpkin artist in the house.
Spiderman and a University of Tennessee cheerleader = total cuteness.
I arrived home just before 7:00pm to find this carved pumpkin next to the driveway. Charlotte came running out dressed as she was earlier in the day. I thanked her for doing such a good job and asked how long it took to detail the carving.
Charlotte: "about an hour."
Me: "What did you do the rest of the day?"
Charlotte: "I played with Vince."

A black cat is a friend indeed this All Hallows Eve

Alley is 15 plus years old. Alley began life as Kristy's cat, but never left home. Alley is a little cantankerous these days and sleeps outside all summer, refusing to come inside. A little cold air this week and Alley snuggled up to Mom since Monday night with only a couple of bathroom breaks. A stomach bug has laid me low, but Alley is good for the spirit as her purring is love.

Sunday afternoon @ Legare Farms on Johns Island

Legare (pronounced le- gree for those from elsewhere) is a 9th generation working farm. The Legare family has organized fall activities including horseback rides, a pumpkin patch, maze, mini maze, scarecrow building, hayrides without horror, except maybe, the slurping of the cow's tongue as one of the many in the herd head for the stopped wagon for feeding time.

Jack and Maddie wore their new boots from Colorado.
Jack is now a Spiderman Cowboy as he shared the tops of his spiderman underwear with all.

Thank goodness the wind decreased and the sun came out this afternoon.
Sandy will be providing true havoc and mayhem to the north over the next couple of days.

Windy Sandy

Sandy showered the lowcountry with a little rain and a lot of wind. It is hard to stay inside on the weekend so we checked out potential Santa list items in the morning, took our first look at a potential new car in what will be a long process (yes, I did like the Jeep Compass more than I thought, but I still need to check out Rav4s, CRVs, Rogues, and Souls).
A late lunch at Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream saw the almost upset of the Chickens by the Vols.
The rest of this afternoon was spent near the water.
Our Scarecrows

It was a blustery day...

So much better without the beard.

The Civil Wars :: Billie Jean

My favorite cover of Billie Jean.

Saturday: TN, NC and home.

Knoxville in time for lunch. I wish we could have stayed for the game, but that would have meant another day on the road. No thank you, drive Gene, drive.
That kiss sound you can still hear is me kissing the ground as I rolled out of the car about 9:30pm. My mantra most of the afternoon "Why is it we did not fly?"

We did listen to the USC/Florida game in the afternoon. Roll over Chickens, Florida had true freshmen on the field the entire 4th quarter. We skipped the Carolina Crybaby Post game show on the radio (really Todd Ellis, cut the mullet and the whining) to listen to the Vols get whipped by Alabama, I can say this, the Volunteers stayed with Alabama (#1 in the country) much longer than the Chickens stayed with the Gators (#2 in the country).

I know that The Chickens plan to regain respectability by beating the Vols this week, but while the Vols will be on the losing end of the scoreboard, the Chickens  will cluck and peck for that win.

My prediction: Chickens, keep on thinking that the next 4 games will be easy wins. The Terriers will be in town soon to bite your necks and shake you all over the field. The Terriers are 5 and 1, having lost only to Georgia Southern. They have beaten much larger schools all season, including Appalachian State the same day the Vols and the Chickens croaked. The Wofford Terriers are the best football team in the state,  have the best SAT scores, the best graduation rates, and best post graduate school enrollment (yes, not many go onto pro-football glory). Wofford is also the highest rated college or university, public or private in South Carolina in yearly published ratings. Wofford ranked in the top 40 to 60 in four publications in 2011. Furman was the only other SC college or university in the top 100. USC and Clemson did make it in the top 300 southern college or university rankings.

Friday, on the road again

A driveby snapshot in Oklahoma. The landscape became green again.

Arkansas was also green, but more farmlands along I40. We went around Little Rock so no stops at points of interest.
It was about 5pm when we drove through Memphis and about 9pm when we checked in our hotel room in Nashville. Showers to shake off the road, then onto Broadway for a night @ Tootsie's and Robert's Western World. We actually stayed out until after 2 am. That is a first for us post kids as the girls were a few months shy of 21 during our last Nashville trip so they had no access to bars after 7:00pm.
Yes, he shaved!

Wednesday in Castle Rock

Goofing off with Chloe (who now receives messages on her facebook page,Chloe Fox. Chloe has good taste and "liked" the Dogs against Romney facebook page as "Mitt is mean" since he roof racked his dog.)
Beautiful foliage in Founder's Village

Founder's Village subdivision entrance.

The view from my sister's neighborhood.

Sister time included pedicures. She chose to support the oldest daughter's school with the color purple, mine was a little more blue. Yes, a little unusual for both of us.
