Low Country Adventures

Jack, Madison, and Charlotte were with us for the Charleston Battery's home season opener. It was a good thing we were not confined to the stands with Jack and Maddie. All enjoyed the first fireworks of the year after the game. The rain earlier in the day sent us to the indoor playground at Chik-Fil-A to give the kids playtime.

Lowcountry Adventures

Saturday, 04/17, was a busy day. Kristy hosted Madison's birthday party. She had on a princess dress and tiara during the party. That so reminded me of Kristy and her love of tiaras when she was young. Madison enjoyed all of her presents, but seemed out of sorts with our gift of a Dora bike. We soon discovered that the brakes were the cause of her dismay. She is so used to riding her trike and had trouble adjusting to the brakes on the bike. We decided teaching Maddie how to use her brakes was a parental job and made our exit. That was enough adventure for Charlotte for the day. She was ready to go home. She had helped deliver a sofa to Carrie early in the day. Add in a party for a four year old and Charlotte was ready to watch TV and go to bed.

Gene and I joined David and family in the evening @ the Family Circle Cup for Ready, Set, Rock! This was so much fun. John McEnroe and Jim Courier seemed quite serious about their exhibition match. It was a best 2/3 match with John winning at the end of the third set. He interacted with the spectators a little, questioned a few calls, and threw his racquet at one point. The crowd roared with approval with each classic McEnroe move. McEnroe and Courier took a break then came back out for a mixed doubles match. McEnroe partnered with Anna Kournikova while Courier partnered with Monica Seles. This match was hilarious as they interacted frequently with the crowd. Their mics were on throughout this match and they seemed to put special emphasis on their grunts and banter. All played pretty good tennis considering the match didn't start until 10 pm. Monica Seles seemd to still have trouble with her foot. Music by the Blue Dogs on the landing before the matches and during the breaks added to the party atmosphere. The beer didn't hurt!

Sunday, 04/18, has been a more relaxing day, but how can one stay home when there is so much going on in town? We took sandwiches and our bikes over to Sullivan's Island. We started out on the pier behind Fort Moultrie, but soon moved to the beach for a better view of the Blue Angels as they flew formations around the harbor. Incredible.Even the pelicans seemed to be watching as they settled on the rocks.

Lowcountry Adventures

It's not everyday one turns four years old. Madison enjoyed a special morning snack with her classmates at Daniel Island Academy. Happy Birthday Maddie!
